A book that gets non-readers reading
Tim Bowler is my new hero. Thanks to his action-packed, easy-to-read Blade series, a huge number of boys now love reading. Boys who normally wouldn't touch a book have become hooked by the story of Blade, the young man who is always on the run, hunted by many, loved by few. For the first time in his life my son is gripped by a book that he is reading for himself. Suddenly there's an alternative to TV, the computer and football, and it's the book and the story that are the pull. What started as a duty – he was to read a little bit every day – has become something he now chooses to do for himself, and each time he has sat down with the book, the number of pages he's read has increased. As a reading fanatic and bookworm myself, I'm overjoyed to see how excited he now is by reading and how much he loves it. So in our house Tim Bowler is something of a hero, to both mother and son.
