28/09/2011 - Tim at Appledore Book Festival
The Appledore Book Festival was founded in 2006. The first festival came about because of the threatened closure of Appledore Library. The Library was saved from closure but the Festival continued with a mission to spread a love of reading and learning in North Devon.
The Festival this year runs from 24 September to 2 October and includes John Riddington-Young, Michael Rosen, Joss Ackland, Ann Widdecombe, and Martin Bell.
The Festival also organises a schools programme. Authors, including Philip Ardagh, Alan Gibbons, Ally Kennen and Tim, visit local schools and present talks and workshops. This year Tim spoke over a two-day period to pupils from Bideford College, West Buckland School and South Molton Community College.
Tim said, ‘The Appledore Book Festival is always special. It’s run by an incredibly friendly and committed group of people and they really look after their authors. The community gets behind the event and it’s great to be part of it.’ | |
