04/11/2011 - Buried Thunder longlisted for Carnegie Medal 2012

Tim has just received news that Buried Thunder has been longlisted for the Carnegie Medal 2012.

The Carnegie Medal is awarded annually to the writer of an outstanding book for children. It was established in 1936 in memory of the great Scottish-born philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919). The medal is awarded by CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Tim was awarded the Carnegie Medal in 1998 for River Boy.

The selection process is organised by the Youth Libraries Group (YLG), one of CILIP's Special Interest Groups, which itself has over 3000 members. 12 children's librarians - members of the YLG - form the panel of judges. The judges read and assess each title, and a shortlist will be announced in late March 2012. The winning title will be announced at an awards ceremony in June 2012.
