27/06/2011 - Tim attends CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Book Awards 2011
The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Book Awards 2011 took place at the BAFTA Theatre in Piccadilly, London on 23 June.
The winner of the Carnegie Medal 2011 was Patrick Ness for his novel Monsters of Men, which is the third and final instalment in his Chaos Walking trilogy. Patrick talks about winning on the CILIP Carnegie Medal website. His acceptance speech included a fierce attack on the government for its closure of libraries.
The Kate Greenaway Medal for illustration was won by Grahame Baker-Smith for FArTHER. Grahame talks about winning on the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal website.
Tim attended the ceremony and is seen here with Geraldine McCaughrean, who was shortlisted for her novel The Death Defying Pepper Roux. Also shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal this year were Theresa Breslin's Prisoner of the Inquisition, Meg Rosoff's The Bride's Farewell, Marcus Sedgwick's White Crow and Jason Wallace's Costa-winning debut novel Out of Shadows.
