21/06/2011 - Tim guest author at Carnegie Shadowing Event

Each year Devon School Library Service organises a Carnegie Medal shadowing event across Devon. Newton Abbot College hosted the South Devon event on 20 June. Staff and students from Newton Abbot College and from five other secondary schools - Coombeshead College, King Edward VI Community College, Westlands School, St Cuthbert Mayne School and Torquay Community College – each gave presentations on one of the books on this year’s Carnegie Medal shortlist.

Tim was invited to be the guest speaker at the event. He spoke to the students about winning the Carnegie Medal and answered questions about his books. He also observed each of the presentations and gave a summing-up afterwards. ‘The students were absolutely brilliant,’ he said. ‘Everyone was buzzing with the love of books.’ There will be more Carnegie-related items and photos on the website over the next few days.
