07/06/2011 - Tim selects winner of Turner Books' short story competition
Tim was recently invited to judge a short story competition for young writers organised by Turner Books. After much consideration and a great deal of thoroughly enjoyable reading, he has selected Charlotte Raven's story Trapped In Time as the winner. There were over 200 entries from several schools which were carefully whittled down to a shortlist of 15, of which Tim was the sole judge.
Tim says, 'Trapped In Time is a stunning story, subtle and original. I loved the understated tone and the way the character's (and thereby the reader's) sense of alienation increases with every sentence. The closing paragraph leaves an image in the mind that is hard to shake off.'
Charlotte receives a signed copy of Buried Thunder and a complete set of Tim's novels. Charlotte's school, Bromley High School, will also receive a set of Tim's books for the school library and a visit from Tim.
