17/02/2011 - Tim invited to be part of Royal Opera House Creative Partnership Project
Creative Partnerships, which is managed by the Royal Opera House, works with schools delivering innovative, long-term partnerships between schools and creative professionals and is currently working on a project to re-launch the library at Southend High School for Boys.
Tim was born in the area and has visited the school before. Sara Bloomfield, librarian, and the students were keen for him to return to the school and participate in the project. Tim will be based at the school for five days from 7-11 March and will be involved in a wide range of activities including: working with lower school students to produce pieces of creative writing, book signings in the library, an interview with the school's 'Press Gang', question and answer sessions at assemblies, judging a writing competition and open sessions when students from any year who have an interest in creative writing can drop in and talk about writing.
Tim said, 'I'm so excited about this project. I've worked with Sara before, I know the school well and it's great to be doing an event in the area where I grew up.'
