Tim visits Sidcot School in North Somerset
Saturday, 26th May, 2012
Tim recently visited Sidcot School to talk to Year 10 students about Blade and how certain environments can create brutality. At the end of his talk Tim challenged the budding authors in the audience to express themselves in a free-writing session. They came up with their own pieces of writing based on a scene that Tim read from Buried Thunder.
In the afternoon he spoke to Year 8 students who were particularly amused by Tim’s account of his early attempts at writing. School Librarian Wendy Worley fed back some of the students’ comments, including: ‘Tim was very funny’; ‘an interesting guy’; ‘the Blade books are very good – aimed at our age group’; ‘his stories are about beating evil’; ‘they deal with darkness’ and are ‘deep with a great storyline’.
Tim said, ‘The students did really well in the workshop and it was great working with them. There are some really gifted writers at Sidcot School.’
